What is an eyelid correction?
An eyelid correction, known medically as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure in which excess skin, muscle or fatty tissue is removed from the eyelids or repositioned.
There are two variants:
- Upper blepharoplasty: Removal of excess skin from the upper eyelid. This is the most frequently performed variant.
- Lower blepharoplasty: Correction of bags or puffiness under the eyes, caused by protruding fatty tissue.

The procedure step by step
1. Consultation & planning
Dr Kloos discusses your complaints, wishes and medical history. A detailed assessment of the eyelid anatomy is made and photographs are taken for the planning.
2. The procedure
The blepharoplasty is performed under local anaesthesia. The procedure takes 45–90 minutes, depending on whether one or both eyelids are corrected. You go home the same day.
